4th Annual Spring Benefit Sunday April 6, 2008

The 4th Annual Spring Benefit will be held at Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club on Centre Island, Sunday April 6, 2008. Money raised will support the Lions Campaign SightFirstII and Vacation Camps for the Blind. We are especially pleased to announce that this years Benefit will honor Oyster Bay Lion and Past District Govenor Jack Micco, who has faithfully served this community for over 50 years.

Serving Our Community

OUR CLUB:

The Lions Club of Oyster Bay was chartered in 1948. We are a non-denominational group of men and women of all ages, from all walks of life, brought together in the common interest of serving our community in the spirit of Lionism.

WE SERVE:

Lions Clubs International is the world's largest and most active organization dedicated to community service. Nearly 1.4 million Lions members in 190 countries and geographic areas answer the needs that challenge the communities of the world. Lions tackle tough problems like blindness, drug abuse prevention and diabetes awareness. Our motto is "We Serve".

WE SUPPORT:

Guide Dogs for the Blind, Scholarships for Local High Schools, Fishing Tournament for the Physically Challenged, Eye care & eye glasses for the needy, Long Island Eye Bank, Lions Journey for Sight Walk, Habitat for Humanity, Doubleday Babcock Senior Center, Visions Camp for the Blind, Boys & Girls Club - OBEN, Lions Diabetes Education Center, CSAC, Celia Flower Pantry, Visiting Nurse of Oyster Bay, Camp Sunshine, Diabetes Education Summer School, and more!

MAJOR ANNUAL EVENTS:

Annual Fishing Tournament for the Physically Challenged - we charter a fishing boat & provide a BBQ & day of fun for the physically challenged.

Annual Pancake Breakfast - fundraiser is held at the Doubleday Babcock Senior Center.

Annual Fundraiser at the Oyster Festival - we sell Oyster Stew, Kielbasa, Corn on the Cob and Onion Rings.

Spring Benefit - The 3rd Annual Spring Benefit in April 2007 at Seawanhaka was for the benefit of Lions "Campaign SightFirstII" and other worthy causes.

LIONS OBJECTIVES:

Create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world.

Promote the principle of good government and good citizenship.

Take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community.

Unite the clubs in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding.

Provide a forum for the open discussion of matters of public interest; provided, however, that partisan politics and sectarian religion shall not be discussed.

Encourage service-minded people to serve without personal financial reward, and to encourage efficiency and high ethical standards.

Activities :

Lions Clubs bring people together...for friendships...for a better tomorrow.

We sponsored a Habitat for Humanity home on Long Island:

We sponsor guide dogs for the blind. This is Teddy, named for Oyster Bay's most famous resident - Teddy Roosevelt, at her "graduation" on August 15th, 2005, with her new owner - Amanda Shirley. In 2007, we sponsored another guide dog, who is currently in training.
